The Gate of Isis

Inspired by Sufi Odes (Bulleh Shah)

In jungles you roam amongst the trees
Up mountains you followed rivers down to the sea
And still you search for something
You cannot see

You have read thousands of books
You have mastered the Arts
But can you read the language
Of your own heart?

You have been to all the temples
The priests, you know them well
But have you been inside God’s house,
Where your spirit dwells?

You hold weapons firm
to battle Satan’s inventions
But you somehow cannot fight
Away your own evil intensions

Sparkling jewels catch you eye
And with money, them, you will buy
But you fail to gain the brightest jewel
The one that resides inside
